Monstahs are basically an exercise if free thinking, or non thinking even. Thats a fancy way of saying they’re doodles I guess. I try only to draw them with no planning, and not edit myself. I do better at this with some than others, and some of them work better than others.

I drew the first thing that would later be called a monstah about ten years ago, for a school project. While the teachers found it interesting, I was discouraged from actually showing it to too many people. Years later I started drawing more of them, still with no really direction or plan for them, just for fun. I stopped again, after a while.

When I started blogging, I came up with the idea to post a new monstah every Monday, as a way to make sure that no matter how busy I may be, I still have to take the time to sit down and draw at least once a week. There are times when It’s been easier than others, but so far so good.

I keep another blog here, where the monstah mondays started, that is now largely for regular sketches and paintings.
